Questions before you buy
Place an ornament in the circular opening on the front of the tree, then switch on the motor. The ornament rotates automatically, allowing you to hold a marker steady against it while the spinning motion creates even lines and patterns. Switch it off when you want to change colors or start a new ornament.
The spinning tree is designed to hold standard round ornaments. The six included ornaments are white and ready to decorate, but you can use other smooth-surfaced balls of similar size if they fit securely in the opening. Avoid ornaments with heavy decorations or irregular shapes that might not spin smoothly.
Horizontal stripes and bands of color turn out very even because the spinning motion naturally creates smooth lines around the ornament. You can also try zigzags by moving the marker up and down as the ball spins, or dots by touching the marker briefly to the surface. Experiment with different pressures and movements to discover what patterns you like best.
The markers included in the kit are designed for decorating the ornaments. Once dry, the designs stay in place through handling and hanging on the tree. Test your design on one ornament first if you are trying a technique you have not used before.
